Memberships

  1. Private membership students will be given 38 lessons (30 or 60 minutes per lesson) over a 12 month period to be taken during the weeks when we are open

  2. Private school membership students will be given 33 lessons (20 or 30 minutes weekly) over a 12 month period to be taken during the weeks when your school is open.

  3. If students require extra lessons at any point they will be able to buy extra via arrangement with their tutor. Where appropriate, lessons may be taken in advance; for example in the run up to exams, or before a long, scheduled absence and time taken off in lieu afterwards.

Missed lessons due to Student Attendance

Because we only have a limited amount of student slots per week, lessons will not be refunded or rearranged in the case of short term illness, school trips or planned/unplanned absence (including non-emergency school closures with less than 48h notice).

We ask that students commit to their timeslot and plan around them to get the most from their memberships.

Missed lessons due to Teacher Attendance

Should one of our teachers not be able to take a lesson a suitable cover teacher will be provided who will be notified of current material. If we can't find one due to time constraints we will provide it at a different time and rearrange this at a time convenient with you. Due to the unexpected nature of this we may not be able to notify you beforehand of the change of teacher.

Changing your Timeslot

We understand that if your circumstances change we can look for a different timeslot however this is subject to teacher availability.

Billing

  1. Memberships are billed via direct debit from the 1st of the Month. For your first month if starting midway through, the remaining weeks will be calculated and billed appropriately.

  2. You are billed equal amounts over 12 months which means payments are still taken during the school holidays (even August where no lessons are given)

  3. In the event of a price increase for any membership, 2 months notice will be given to affected customers and you will be given the option to end your membership at the end of the notice period given by us if you decide to not carry on your lessons.

Ending your membership

In the event of a direct debit student wishing to leave Simply Guitar require 6 weeks by email to greg@simplyguitar.net. After we receive your notice, we will schedule your final payment before cancelling the mandate. Because the payments are taken by direct debit as equal monthly amounts throughout the year there may be unused lessons which you can use up before you leave us. We will settle your account via direct debit and then we will close the mandate.

School Lessons

  1. School lessons follow our School Membership plan as outlined at the beginning of the terms.

  2. We follow the 39 week school calendar and allow a 6 lesson buffer for school trips or circumstances where we can not do the lessons for example bank holidays, end of year play practice or SAT examination weeks.

  3. Lessons during school terms will not be refunded or rearranged in the case of short term illness, bank holidays, school trips or planned/unplanned absence (including non-emergency school closures with less than 48h notice).

  4. In the unlikely case of a teacher absence a free lesson will be credited to your account and rearranged for you, cash refunds are not given.

  5. All students are required to bring their own instrument to every lesson, along with any accessories (capo, picks) and exam books. They do not need to bring individual sheets, we use the portal for this.

  6. Instruments are not shared or provided for hygiene reasons.

Responsibilities & Behaviour

  1. It is expected that all students and parents adhere to a respectful manner whilst in lesson time, and respect the neighbouring business and its property when entering and leaving the property and taking lessons.

  2. We can take no responsibility for damage to personal property in or out of lesson time.

  3. It is important that you ensure you or your child are practicing the instrument at home. The recommended time for practice is at least 15 minutes a day although more is always better. If you are a parent of the student, it is your responsibility to allocate practice time and balance the child's other commitments!
